How does make-up sex work (psychologically)?

Now, my girlfriend and I never had a fight last long enough for us to start yelling at each other. We have had sex after little arguments but it's still the romantic, passionate feeling. I heard make-up sex is really crazy for some reason. Is it angry sex? Is it "I'm so glad she stopped yelling" relief sex? Or is it just hype because it's "naughty?"

It's like all the stress and things that you both are angry about make the sex rougher and harder.
